Portrait - Tattoo On Display

Something a little different for my last studio photo session.  Lately I've been photographing lots of beautiful ladies in tulle skirts, leather jackets and flowing dresses and this photo session there was none of that in sight. Instead, a good looking young lad stepped in front of the lens with ripped jeans, white tee shirt and a very cool Johnny Cash tee shirt and here are some of the awesome photographs during our session.

Tattoo Project - Allison

Tattoo Project - It's mind blowing what an amazing piece of art work on your skin can represent and the tattoo that Allison has on her arm is proof of that. It is memory of a dear friend who recently passed away. On her arm she has "Create Yourself" which was something he always said to her. It was about making yourself better .... "Whenever someone would say I need to be a better person he would say .. No don't be your best self. Create yourself" It's to be someone better then you ever thought you could be.

Something to always remember.

50th Anniversary - Congratulations

A Wonderful 50 Years! Here's a breakdown by numbers...50 years of marriage, 18,250 days together. 6 Different Addresses. 3 Wonderful Children and 5 Amazing Grandchildren. What an amazing milestone to be celebrating and I was thrilled to be part of celebrating this special event.

Film Noir

The 1940s and 1950s are generally regarded as the "classic period" of American film noir.  Some of the most amazing actors and actresses performed in these movies which consisted of deep shadows, clutching hands, exploding revolvers, sadistic villains and heroines tormented.  Something was always left to your imagination. Veronica Lake was an actress during this period and my model for this photo session Nadine Banville channeled her perfectly.  Here are a few of favorite images of my photo session.

Ballerina In The Country

What do you get when you add a beautiful Ballerina and put her in the country?  You get these amazing photos! I've been wanting to photograph a Ballerina for years. So on a whim I posted a notice at work to see if anybody knew a Ballerina that would be interested in doing a photo session and I was thrilled when I finally got a Ballerina who would come out into the country and capture some great images!

Puppy Power

Meet Harley-Dawn, the newest member of the Holmes family.  Gina is now the proud mommy to this adorable puppy and ofcourse, I had to venture over and take a few photos of this pup. I spent some time on Pintrest looking for some puppy photo inspiration and found some great ideas.  I brought some blankets, a bandana and a silver pail to I could get some great portraits.  I was prepared for everything...except for Harley.  The minute I came in, she was a little ball of energy and all my plans went out the window.  Plan B, let's go outside and see what we can do.  Plan B seemed to work.

I'm hoping to go back in a few months to see if Plan A might work then.  Stay tuned!  Harley, you're a sweetie!

Hello, my Name is Annie.....

and I'm totally adorable! Growing up, there was a series of books featuring an awesome Old English Sheepdog named Mr. Muggs.  From my first reading of the books, I fell in love with both Mr Muggs and English Sheepdogs.

Needless to say, I was thrilled to pieces when a friend at work told me she had an Old English Sheepdog named Annie and that Annie would be thrilled to do some modeling for me.  We met up at Bruce Pit Dog Park in Ottawa and Annie was a star in the Park.

Enjoy the photos of Annie and if you  have kids, read Mr. Muggs!  Old series but a great read for the little ones.

Flashback in Time

What do you get when you get two creative and talent ladies decide to made some vintage clothing?  You get a fantastic photo session on the Rideau Canal The World's Largest Skating Rink. Both Edith and Sandrine did an amazing job with their skating costumes and were a hit on the ice with all the spectators.

Thanks ladies.  I hope you enjoy your photos!

Tattoo Project - Allison

I LOVE tattoo's.  I would get one myself if I wasn't such a chicken!  So, to make up for this, I'm working on a Tattoo project capturing the amazing artwork and stories behind some spectacular tattoos.  This is an ongoing project and I'm hoping to one day have an exhibit of some of this work.

Tattoos say a lot about a person's life.  This shoulder tattoo on Allison Somenzi is for her grandparents.  Allison's Grandfather was a Baptist Minister and the versus on her shoulder were favorites of both her Grandfather and Grandmother. The flowers are their favorite and also their birth.  Proverb 3 v 6 - Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Psalms 73 vs 26 - My flesh and my heart may fail,   but God is the strength of my heart  and my portion forever

The legend of the Koi is one of strength and courage and it's a special piece for Allison Somenzi.  James had this tattoo on his back and when he took his own life on February 14, 2010 Allison wanted to have this tattoo in remembrance of a life too short.  Her tattoo artist incorporated some of James's ashes into the ink and now a piece of James will also be close to her.

Donna Leigh + Norman = Mr. & Mrs.

Ottawa in October.  You never know what the weather is going to be.  Hot. Cold. Windy.  Well, this Thanksgiving weekend, I got to photograph Donna Leigh and Norman's Wedding and the day was perfect.  The weather was perfectly hot.  The tree's still held their colour and it was the perfect family wedding. Here are a few photographs from this special day.  Congratulations Donna Leigh and Norman!!!!

When did Ottawa become Zombieland?  On Sunday, October 29th, the streets were swarming with the decomposing bodies from the 2013 Ottawa Zombie Walk.  The Zombie’s started their search for brains, leaving from ST. Patrick Street and slowly made their way up to Parliament Hill. The streets are now safe again until next year.
